Pastor Doug Knowles is from the wondrous land of Long Island and has been an Associate Pastor at Valley Bible since September 1999. He holds a Master's degree in Psychiatric Social Work from Hunter College, NY, and a Master of Divinity degree from Bethel Seminary. Prior to his ministry at Valley Bible EFC, Pastor Doug spent 18 years working in the field of mental health and addiction services, in a variety of settings and positions.

Pastor Doug's passions include equipping people to serve in the Kingdom of God and facilitating relationships in the Body of Christ that are healthy and Christ-exalting. Pastor Doug oversees the small group ministry of the church, which he feels is the primary means of helping people grow in Christ and develop close, loving relationships. His vision is to see all members of the Body utilizing their spiritual gifts to build one another up, and to be continually seeking opportunities to spread the message of the Gospel. Pastor Doug also oversees the Christian Education ministries of the church, another prime means to making disciples of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Doug and his (lovely) wife Irene have three wonderful children, Ryan, Benjamin and Lindsay. His life's passion is take old, discarded things and make them new again (spiritual and otherwise), and is currently restoring a 1968 Chevelle "SS 396." He is also fond of ethnic foods and would welcome any recipes that people have to offer.
